Best season: fall. Fall offers the most comfortable combination of mild temperatures (daytime highs typically 55–75°F, nights 35–50°F) and striking lakeside color as cottonwoods and oaks turn gold, making hilltop views especially scenic. Boating and fishing remain excellent into October when crowds thin and breezes are cooler, and the hilltop meadows and rocky outcrops are especially pleasant for picnic-style camping and evening stargazing. Expect low to moderate crowds on weekdays and quieter conditions overall,; Peak months: October, September, May, April Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall is best: 55–75°F days, cool nights and cottonwood/oak foliage make it ideal for camping.
