Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of access, warm days and long evenings for river activities and canyon hiking — expect daytime highs around 70–90°F and cool nights in the 40s–50s at 5,390 ft. River access, fishing, swimming in eddies, and canyon hikes are at their peak, and the basalt walls are spectacular in the strong summer light. Campsite availability fills faster than other seasons because the small campground is popular, but crowds remain moderate compared with low-elevation recreation. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
