Best season: fall. Early fall offers crisp, comfortable weather (daytime highs typically 50–70°F, nights cooling into the 40s) and the strongest combination of foliage, wildlife activity, and low visitor density. Trails and lake viewpoints are at their most scenic as mixed hardwoods turn color, and boating/fishing remain excellent through early October before the campground closes for the season. Expect smaller crowds on weekdays and pleasantly cool evenings perfect for campfires and stargazing. Peak months: September, October, May, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Early fall cited as best: mild temps, peak foliage and excellent lake views per reviews.
