The elevation is 7,400 ft. The campground is one of four in Lake Alpine Recreation Area. It has a single loop above Lake Alpine. A few sites have a view of the lake. A compact campground, it meanders through a dense stand of Lodgepole pines and Red firs providing good privacy between sites. The campground is at the northern edge of the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. Nearby Lake Alpine offers limited groceries, hot showers, laundromat, and boat rentals. There is an active interpretive program thoughout the Summer; check information board for details. This is bear country; practice safe food storage technique.

A laundromat and hot shower are available for a fee at nearby Lake Alpine Lodge.
Alpine Lake is 180 acres. Power boats are limited to 10mph. The boat ramp is located in front of Lake Alpine Lodge.
The parking aprons are either dirt or paved. An RV waste station with potable water, is available for a fee at Calaveras Big Tree State Park, 1.6 miles east of Arnold, CA on State Route 4.
From Arnold, CA take State Route 4 east 28.1 miles to Alpine Lake East Shore sign. Turn right at sign and go 0.2 miles to campground sign. Turn right and right again into campground.

Peak months: June, July, August, September Avoid: November, December, January, February, March Special considerations: High elevation (7400 ft) means rapid weather changes; bear country requires proper food storage; winter access may be limited by snow.

Pine Marten Campground offers a variety of amenities catering to different camping needs. Campsites can accommodate up to 6 people, 2 tents, and 2 vehicles per site, with picnic tables and campfire rings provided. Bathrooms with vault toilets are available within the campground, and potable water is accessible via spigots. While there are no on-site showers, hot showers and laundry facilities are available at the nearby Lake Alpine Resort. Campers can purchase supplies, including firewood, camping gear, and food, at the resort's general store. Notably, no electrical, water, or sewer hookups are available. Pets are welcome, provided they are leashed and under control.
