Summer offers the most reliable access and warmest conditions for shoreline camping and lake activities — daytime highs typically range from the mid-60s to mid-80s°F with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F. Boat ramp use, swimming, boating, and reservoir fishing are at their peak, and trails into the Desolation Wilderness are usually fully passable for day hikes. Expect moderate to heavy weekend crowds on holiday weekends but plenty of quiet weekdays; be aware of summer wildfire season and possible AT Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
