Best season: fall. Fall (especially October–early November) is the best time to visit for cooler, comfortable weather (daytime highs commonly 55–75°F, nights dipping into the 40s–50s), peak shoreline color, and excellent fishing as the lake cools. Hiking, wildlife viewing and scenic drives are at their peak with fewer biting insects and calmer water for paddling and boating. Crowds are generally moderate — popular weekends around peak color and deer season can be busier, but weekdays are quiet and peaceful. Peak months: October, November, May, April Avoid: December, January, February
Oct–early Nov best weather and peak shoreline color; reviewers highlight fall beauty and quiet.
