Hearth Trends Slate Black Natural Fire Stones

Why we pack it
Sally and Justin Steele, from our own trips
We bought these for our Ignik FireCan. Denser stones add thermal mass: they absorb the heat and radiate it back out. They're natural basalt, about 1 to 2 inches across, and Hearth Trends rates them for gas fire features. We bought the 10 lb bag straight from Hearth Trends, a small independent shop.
