Falls View Campground sits above the Big Quilcene River in a quiet forest where the sound of a 100-foot waterfall carries through the trees. The campground offers 11 first-come, first-served sites split between two loops: one for RVs and trailers, one for tents and smaller campers. A short trail leads to the falls overlook. Payment is handled through the Recreation.gov mobile app at your site.
The campground supports mixed camping types with tent sites and sites that accommodate small RVs/trailers, including some pull-through RV sites. It is managed on a first-come, first-served basis with on-site payment.
Weather and SeasonsBest season: spring. Spring offers the best combination of flowering rhododendrons, high waterfall flows, and mild temperatures (typically 45–65°F / 7–18°C) that make the Falls View overlook dramatic and the loop trail especially rewarding. Hiking, waterfall photography, and trout fishing are at their peak as rivers run fuller from snowmelt and rain, while crowds are still moderate before the summer rush. Trails can be damp, so waterproof boots are recommended, but overall conditions and scenery make spring the most
Peak months: May, June, July, September
Avoid: November, December, January, February
ElevationNestled on elevated terrain, the campground commands a dramatic position high above the Big Quilcene River, where the forest floor drops away to reveal the waterway carving its path through the valley below.
Natural Features and SceneryConifers and rhododendrons shade the campsites, filtering light onto the forest floor. A loop trail from the campground leads to views of a 100-foot waterfall that drops into the Big Quilcene River. The falls run heaviest during spring snowmelt, when mist rises through the canyon and the roar of water echoes through the evergreens. The area supports trout fishing when river flows allow.
