Driving directionsFrom U.S. Highway 89, turn west onto St. Charles Canyon Road/Forest Road 412. Follow for approximately 7 miles to the campground on the left side of the road.
Roads to and within the campground are paved. Access is straightforward from Highway 89, with clear signage directing campers up St. Charles Canyon Road.

Best Time to Camp at Porcupine (Id)

Mountain weather here dances to its own rhythm, surprising visitors with crisp, star-filled nights even during warm summer days. From May through September, the campground comes alive with perfect hiking weather and comfortable daytime temperatures, though wise campers always pack an extra layer for those refreshingly cool evenings when the mountain air settles into the canyon. The temperature swings create magical mornings where mist rises from the creek and dew sparkles on wildflower petals.

Porcupine Campground caters to various camping preferences. It offers individual family sites as well as a group site that accommodates up to 20 visitors. Tent camping and RV camping are supported, though electric hookups are not provided.
