No potable water on-site is a hard stop for campers who don't carry a filter or enough jugs. Car campers should also know there's no drive-in access, it's hike or boat only.

Summer brings the most reliable access and warm weather. Daytime highs range from the mid-70s to mid-90s°F, with cool nights in the 50s to 60s. Lake levels peak in summer, making boat approaches easier and the Payette Trail fully passable. July and August can hit 89-93°F, good for swimming. Weekends and holidays see the most boat traffic. Winter dumps over a foot of snow during storms, limiting access. Spring and fall bring rain that keeps the forest green but can complicate trail conditions.
Summer has most reliable access, warm weather, and peak lake levels for boat approaches.
