Eighth Lake Campground sits between Seventh and Eighth Lakes in the Adirondacks at 1,847 feet elevation. The 121 sites are large and well-spaced through wooded terrain, offering privacy that's harder to find at bigger campgrounds. Cell service doesn't exist here. You'll need to drive to Inlet for that. Which makes it the kind of place families return to for decades. Sites run $22/night.
The campground caters primarily to tent and trailer campers, with additional provisions for group camping. There is no glamping or cabin lodging available.
Historical Significance
The campground has built a multi-generational following. Reviews mention families who've camped here for 20, 30, even 60 years, returning to the same sites and sharing the same swimming spots across generations. That kind of loyalty speaks to consistency more than any historical marker could.Weather and SeasonsSummer brings mid-60s to upper-70s during the day, dropping to the mid-40s and mid-50s at night. Expect warm, comfortable conditions for water activities. Swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for bass and trout. Spring means black flies. Late summer evenings can be cool enough that you'll want layers. Weekends in July and August get busy. Early morning and dusk are best for wildlife.
ElevationPerched at a comfortable elevation in the Adirondack Mountains, the campground offers that perfect sweet spot where the air feels cleaner and the stars shine brighter, yet remains accessible for families and casual campers. The gentle mountain terrain provides just enough elevation to escape the summer heat of the valleys below while maintaining easy access to both lakes.
Natural Features and SceneryLocated on the southeast shore of 314-acre Eighth Lake in the Adirondacks, the campground features large, well-forested campsites with privacy, both forested and waterside sites along the lake shores, and a sandy beach with swimming area[1][2][3][5].
