Fall brings the best conditions. Daytime highs reach the 60s and 70s, nights drop into the 30s and 40s. The piñon-juniper tones warm, bugs thin out, and fire danger drops compared to summer. Trails around the Catwalk and nearby canyons hit their stride for photography and long hikes. Hunting seasons overlap, so wear blaze orange on multi-use routes. Summer heat is intense, making shaded sites especially valuable. Winter brings crisp air and occasional snow.
Fall noted as best: 60s–70s days, cooler nights, thinner bugs and lower fire danger.
