Natural Features and SceneryWorthington Campground sits along a scenic stretch of the **Delaware River** at the base of forested ridges forming the New Jersey side of the **Delaware Water Gap**.[3][4][9] The environment is a mix of **riparian riverfront**, hemlock–hardwood forests, and rugged ridges cut by rocky ravines such as **Dunnfield Creek**.[4][9] Above the campground, hikers can reach **Sunfish Pond**, a 44‑acre glacial lake ringed by chestnut oak forest and boulder fields, widely cited as one of the state’s most striking natural features and a designated natural wonder.[4][9] The terrain is known for **steep, rocky trails, expansive viewpoints over the Delaware Valley, and clear mountain streams**, with some of “the most rugged terrain and splendid views of northern New Jersey,” according to trail descriptions.[10] Autumn brings notable **fall foliage** on the ridges and along the river corridor.[9][10]
