Driving directionsFrom I-77, take Exit 42. Turn left onto US-21 N and travel 2.9 miles. Turn left onto Wagner Street and travel 1.6 miles. Turn right onto State Park Road and drive 2.7 miles to the Visitor’s Center, approximately 4.5 miles to Family Camp Circle to Campground. After-hours access is available through St. Johns Road entrance; from the intersection of Old Mountain Road and East Monbo Road in Troutman, travel south approximately 4.3 miles on East Monbo Road. Turn left onto St. Johns Road and go 0.5 miles to State Park Road. Follow the signs for the campgrounds.
The campground is accessible via paved roads, and after-hours access is available through St. Johns Road. Roads are manageable for large vehicles, although some backing-in issues for RVs were noted in user reviews.
