Fall offers the best combination of comfortable hiking temperatures and spectacular foliage across the Red River Gorge—expect daytime highs in the 55–70°F range and crisp nights in the 35–50°F range, with peak color typically mid-October. Trails and overlooks on the ridgeline look their best for photography, natural-bridge viewing, and long ridge hikes, while bugs and summer humidity have faded.
