Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies shoreline along Cave Run Lake, an 8,270-acre reservoir co-managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Forest Service. At 751 feet elevation, the lake sits in Kentucky's eastern highlands, where forested ridges meet clear mountain water. The reservoir produced Kentucky's state record muskie. Coves and varied shoreline create good fishing and swimming spots. Views stretch across open water toward wooded slopes.
