Serious hikers wanting elevation challenge or solitude on holiday weekends will find neither. The trails are flat and multi-use, summer weekends draw crowds, and reservations are required, so last-minute arrivals often strike out.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Summer delivers the best conditions. From late May through early September, daytime highs reach the mid-70s to upper-80s°F. The beach, boat launch, and concessions operate from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. Bass, bluegill, and catfish bite well in warm months. Weekends and holidays get crowded, so reserve early if you're camping. Autumn brings thinner crowds and golds and crimsons across the hillsides. Winter opens the trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling when snow covers the ground.
Peak season: beach, boat launch and concessions operate Memorial Day–Labor Day; best season.
