205 INDIAN MOUNDS ROAD, BLAKELY, Georgia, 39823, United States
History-focused families and couples who want a lakefront site (grab Site 8, 10, or 11 early) with electric and water hookups, easy paddleboat access, and owls and otters as neighbors. Fall weekdays are the sweet spot before the sites fill.
No campfire ban exemptions here right now, so if a fire ring is the centerpiece of your trip, wait for another season. No-see-ums also make summer genuinely miserable without serious bug protection, sewer hookups are absent, and cell service is nearly nonexistent on all carriers.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Fall delivers the best camping conditions, with daytime highs in the mid-60s to mid-70s and cool nights in the 40s-50s. Lower humidity means fewer mosquitoes and no-see-ums (a serious summer problem. Bring bug spray). The mesic hardwood ravines show vivid color, and wildlife viewing peaks during deer rutting season and bird migration. Winter days average around 59°F. Summer reaches 90°F, good for lake swimming but humid, with occasional showers up to 1.25 inches.
Fall praised as best: mild temps, lower humidity and far fewer biting insects.

The museum at Kolomoki Mounds is undergoing operational changes to abide by the updated regulations of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). There is currently not a museum experience offered at this time. However, ranger-led programs and guided tours of the site are offered frequently. Please call the park office for more information.
