<A HREF="http://www.usbr.gov/dataweb/dams/ca10143.htm">Contra Loma Dam</a> and reservoir are part of the <A HREF="http://www.usr.gov/dataweb/html/delta.html">Central Valley Project - Delta Division</a> and offers recreational opportunities for the East Bay area near San Francisco. Numerous hiking trails exist as part of the facility and the area provides excellent access to the Contra Costa Canal Regional Trail. The trail system provides for bikes, equestrian and pedestrian use and are available from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. The park also provides picnic and other day use facilities and adjacent to the Antioch Municipal Golf Course.

November through April delivers the best conditions: mid-70s to mid-80s, manageable humidity, and far fewer mosquitoes than summer. Spring (March and April) hits the sweet spot for migratory birds, butterflies, and lush understory color, with lighter crowds than the winter holidays. May through October turns the hammock into a steamy, buggy sauna. Summer mosquitoes are extreme. The park doesn't spray because it's a botanical preserve. So if you visit in the wet season, bring strong repellent, long sleeves, and plan for early morning before heat and insects peak.
