Best Time to Camp at Cayo Costa State Park Loop A

Late fall through winter transforms Cayo Costa into a subtropical paradise, with pleasant temperatures, clear skies, and minimal bugs making every moment outdoors a gift. Summer visits require more preparation—from June through November, pack your patience along with insect repellent and extra water, as heat, humidity, and enthusiastic mosquitoes are part of the package. The island's position exposes it fully to Gulf breezes and weather systems, so layered clothing and flexibility are your friends year-round, especially during the active storm season when conditions can shift with little warning.
