Best season: spring. Spring offers the best balance of mild temperatures (typically mid-60s to low-80s°F), lower humidity than summer, and active wildlife — prime conditions for paddling, fishing, and birding along the Intracoastal. Migratory shorebirds and saltmarsh life are at their peak, and water access is comfortable without the summer storms and heavy mosquitoes. Expect moderate crowds on weekend days but plenty of solitude on weekday or early-morning trips. Peak months: April, March, May, February Avoid: August, September
Described as best season: mid-60s–low-80s, migratory shorebirds and fewer mosquitoes.
The Middle Dredge campsite is a primitive camping location located on the northeast side of an island within the Canaveral National Seashore. "No frills or amenities, but that's the point!" noted a user. Critical amenities such as potable water, toilets, and showers are not available on-site. Campers are encouraged to bring their own firewood or cook stove as firewood is not provided, and fires are only allowed in designated areas. There is no trash or recycling collection, so all litter must be packed out by visitors. Cell phone reception is noted as generally available year-round, although it may vary by carrier and weather conditions.
