Best season: fall. Visit in fall for the mild days and crisp, clear nights that make hiking and wildlife viewing especially rewarding — daytime highs are often in the mid-50s to mid-70s°F with nights dropping into the 20s–40s°F. Golden grasses, sunlit granite spires at the nearby City of Rocks, and lower insect activity create comfortable conditions for long walks, photography, and deer/upland-bird watching. Crowds are usually light compared with summer, though be aware of hunting seasons (typically Sept–Nov) and, Peak months: September, October, May, April Avoid: July, August
