Full-hookup RV rigs expecting consistent electric and water at every site will run into gaps here. The narrow county road approach and limited signage also make a big rig arrival more stressful than it needs to be.

Fall delivers the most comfortable camping at Fort Pillow. Daytime temperatures settle into the 50s through low 70s°F, cool enough for hiking the fort trails without sweating through your shirt but warm enough that you'll want to linger at the bluff overlooks. Nights drop enough to make campfires worthwhile. The leaf color along the river adds visual interest to those sunset views everyone talks about, and the thinning crowds after summer holiday weekends mean you're more likely to have the historical sites to yourself. Insect pressure drops significantly compared to summer, and calmer water conditions make shoreline fishing more pleasant. Summer still works if you're focused on the history. Warm days are fine for wandering the reconstructed fort. But expect more humidity and bugs.
Fall described as most comfortable for hiking and views; reviewers highlight fall conditions.
Bathhouses with showers and flushing toilets, potable drinking water, picnic tables, and sewage hookups are available. The park reports no electric hookups at some sites; pets are allowed and campfires are permitted.
