Randall Creek's bald eagle roost is a designated National Natural Landmark; the recreation area was created in 2002 after prior Corps of Engineers management.Weather and SeasonsPlan your visit between May and September when the campground hums with activity and all facilities are fully operational. Summer days typically warm into the comfortable 80s°F—perfect for water sports, fishing, and evening campfires under the South Dakota sky. The campground enters a quieter phase after October 1st when water systems shut down for winter, reopening around May 1st as the eagles depart and warm weather returns to the Missouri River valley.
