Best Time to Camp at Suwannee River State Park Loop Outr

Plan your visit between November and February, when Florida's famous humidity takes a break and Saturday evenings come alive with ranger-led campfire programs at the amphitheater—think crackling fires, fascinating natural history, and stars so bright you'll forget your phone exists. Speaking of which, there's no internet access here, which isn't a bug, it's a feature. This is your invitation to truly disconnect, to feel the temperature drop as the sun sets, to notice the rustle of palmetto fronds, and to rediscover what it means to be present in one of Florida's most beautiful wild places.

Summer(Jun-Aug)
3.5 / 5

Dense shade helps in Florida heat, but summer humidity and bugs likely reduce comfort.

Spring(Mar-May)

Best
Winter(Dec-Feb)
4.0 / 5

North Florida winters are mild; likely comfortable camping and solitude in winter months.

Planning Tips

About Suwannee River State Park Loop Outr

Picture your perfect campsite: dappled sunlight filtering through towering oaks, the gentle murmur of the legendary Suwannee River nearby, and plenty of room to spread out on level limerock pads that welcome everything from tents to 58-foot RVs. Loop OUTR delivers the essentials—fire rings for s'mores, picnic tables for morning coffee, water and electric hookups (30/50-amp) at most sites, plus clean restrooms with hot showers and a dump station—so you can focus on what really matters: unplugging and reconnecting with nature.
The campsite near Lake Wauburg accommodates tents, trailers and RVs (RV sites are back-in; tent sites are a short walk from the parking area). The park also offers a primitive group campsite and a primitive campsite along the Chacala Trail (access requires a 1.85-mile approach on foot, horse or bicycle).
