About Seeley Lake Lolo Campground (Mt)

Nestled on the western shore of pristine Seeley Lake, this beloved campground sits in a dramatic valley cradled between the Swan and Mission mountain ranges. Here, towering ancient Western larch trees—some more than 500 years old—shade your campsite while crystal-clear glacial waters lap at nearby beaches, creating an idyllic base camp for swimming, fishing, boating, and wildlife watching adventures.
Provides reservable RV and tent sites (29 individual RV/Tent campsites).
Historical SignificanceWalk among living monuments to time itself in the remarkable Girard Grove, where ancient Western larch trees have stood sentinel for centuries. The grove's crown jewel is "Gus," a magnificent larch that has witnessed over 1,000 years of history—its trunk measuring more than seven feet in diameter, this elder statesman of the forest predates medieval castles and connects visitors to a living link with the distant past.

Natural Features and SceneryYour campsite sits beneath a cathedral of old-growth Western larch, where some trees have been reaching skyward for over half a millennium. The shoreline of Seeley Lake beckons just steps away, part of the scenic Chain of Lakes connected by the meandering Clearwater River. This rich ecosystem creates a wildlife haven where patient observers might spot deer browsing at dawn, elk moving through the timber, mountain goats scaling distant peaks, or the graceful silhouette of trumpeter swans gliding across the water. Eagles soar overhead, great blue herons stalk the shallows, and if you're fortunate, you might glimpse moose, bighorn sheep, or even bears moving through this pristine wilderness corridor.
Geological RegionSeeley Lake owes its existence to ancient glaciers that carved this stunning valley between the Swan and Mission ranges thousands of years ago. Today, the lake forms a jewel in the local Chain of Lakes, where the Clearwater River threads through a landscape still bearing the dramatic fingerprints of the Ice Age—creating the deep, cold waters and scenic mountain backdrop that make this destination so unforgettable.
