Best Time to Camp at West Loop Campground

The high desert keeps its own rhythm through the seasons, and West Loop is open year-round for those who want to experience it all. Summer brings intense heat that gives way to spectacular sunset shows over the mesas, while daytime winds remind you you're in true desert country. Winter campers trade the heat for solitude and cooler exploration weather—just know that individual site water shuts off until mid-March, though you'll still find potable water at the dump station. One bonus: Arizona's year-round Mountain Standard Time means no clock confusion during your stay.

Summer(Jun-Aug)
2.0 / 5

Open, treeless desert likely very hot and exposed in summer; shade is minimal.

Fall(Sep-Nov)
4.0 / 5

Fall typically offers pleasant desert temps and great views; site is quiet and scenic.

Best
Spring(Mar-May)
4.0 / 5

Spring likely pleasant for desert camping with good scenery and temperate weather.

Winter(Dec-Feb)
3.0 / 5

Winters in high desert can be cool; hot showers daily are a plus but snow/skiing unlikely.
