Best Time to Camp at Redhead Loop Campground

Redhead Loop welcomes campers year-round, though gate hours shift with the seasons (extended hours April through October, reduced November through March). Plan ahead for popular weekends: a two-night minimum applies Friday through Saturday from April 1 to October 30, while holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day) require three-night stays. The dump station and fish cleaning facilities take a winter休息 but spring back to life each April, ready for the busy season ahead.

Best
Summer(Jun-Aug)
4.0 / 5

Campers praise 'cooler temperatures' and lakeside setting as summer draws.

Fall(Sep-Nov)
4.0 / 5

High-country woodland implies good fall color/conditions, though not explicitly detailed.

Spring(Mar-May)
3.0 / 5

Spring likely pleasant as snow melts and wildlife returns; limited specific data.

Winter(Dec-Feb)
3.0 / 5

High elevation means colder winters; no info on closures or winter services.

  • Operating Season: Park open year-round. Gates seasonally: Nov–Mar gates open 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Apr–Oct gates open 5:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Dump station and fish cleaning stations are closed for the season and reopen in April.

About Redhead Loop Campground

Nestled along the shores of Fool Hollow Lake in Arizona's scenic White Mountains, Redhead Loop offers the perfect blend of lakeside tranquility and modern convenience. Choose from paved RV sites with full hookups (including sewer on Mallard and Redhead loops) or tent camping spots, all set beneath a canopy of towering ponderosa pines. With picnic tables, fire rings, and clean restroom facilities at every turn, you'll have everything you need for a memorable mountain escape—just be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time.
Redhead Loop is listed as one of the electric RV loops at Fool Hollow Lake with water at all sites and sewer available in the loop; the park also has separate non-hook-up (tent-only) sites elsewhere on the property.
