About Spinreel Sand Camping

Welcome to Spinreel Sand Camping, where adventure begins the moment your 4x4 hits the soft sand. This primitive backcountry experience sits in the heart of Oregon's largest off-road vehicle playground, where endless dunes meet coastal wilderness. Come prepared to be completely self-sufficient—no facilities means pure, unfiltered freedom among the sands.
Sand campsites located directly on the sand within the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area; sites are only accessible by 4x4 vehicles on soft sand and are primitive in nature.
Natural Features and SceneryImagine waking up surrounded by towering sand dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see, their golden peaks giving way to dense coastal forests on the horizon. The mighty Pacific Ocean roars just beyond the dunes, while hidden freshwater ponds emerge like desert oases among the sandy valleys. This is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area at its most raw and spectacular—a constantly shifting landscape where wind-sculpted dunes create an otherworldly terrain that changes with each passing storm. Whether you're watching the sunrise paint the sand in shades of amber and gold, or stargazing from your campsite with zero light pollution, the natural beauty here is simply unforgettable.
