About Little Pines Campground

Nestled along the pristine shoreline of 960-acre Lake Hinkle, Little Pines Campground offers a perfect blend of modern comfort and natural beauty. This thoughtfully designed retreat features nine spacious, shaded campsites with full electrical and water hookups, each situated on level ground beneath a canopy of mature pines. With a welcoming camp host, convenient boat ramp, fishing pier, and the charming town of Waldron just 12 miles away, you'll find everything you need for an unforgettable lakeside escape.
Developed campground with 9 single, back-in campsites along Lake Hinkle offering utility hookups and paved parking; additional day-use and boat access facilities on site.
Historical SignificanceLittle Pines Campground stands as a testament to thoughtful forest management and modern recreation planning. Built within what was once a working pine plantation, this site represents one of the Ouachita National Forest's most recent success stories in transforming managed forestland into welcoming public recreation space. The transformation honors the area's timber heritage while creating a destination where visitors can connect with the forest in comfort and style.
Natural Features and SceneryCradled in the valley of Poteau Mountain with the ancient Ouachita Mountains rising around you, Little Pines Campground offers a setting that feels both intimate and expansive. The legacy of the old pine plantation lives on in the tall trees that cast dappled shade across your campsite, their straight trunks creating natural corridors toward the sparkling waters of Lake Hinkle. The 960-acre lake stretches before you, its surface changing with the light—mirror-smooth at dawn, dancing with ripples by afternoon. Whether you're casting a line from the fishing pier, launching your boat, or simply watching the sun set behind the mountain ridges, you're surrounded by the timeless beauty of the Ouachitas.
