About this campground

Nestled deep in Idaho's wilderness, Beaver Creek Cabin beckons adventurers seeking an authentic mountain retreat. This charming hideaway transforms with the seasons – arrive by car during summer months when wildflowers dot the meadows, or embark on a magical winter journey via cross-country skis or snowshoes through pristine powder. Inside, you'll discover a cozy sanctuary complete with a warming wood stove, modern propane cooking facilities, comfortable futon and twin beds for restful nights. Gather around the outdoor fire ring under star-studded skies, sharing stories of the day's adventures.
Beaver Creek Cabin provides cabin lodging with limited group site access. Tents and RVs are not allowed.
Historical SignificanceStep back in time to the 1930s when skilled hands of the Civilian Conservation Corps crafted this enduring mountain refuge, building not just a cabin but a legacy. This historic gem has watched over the forest since its origins as an administrative outpost in 1912, bearing witness to nearly a century of changing seasons, wildlife migrations, and countless adventurers who've found solace within its sturdy walls. Today, it stands as a testament to American craftsmanship and conservation heritage.
Weather and SeasonsExperience the cabin's dramatic seasonal transformations, from winter's crystalline wonderland where snow blankets the forest in hushed beauty, to summer's warm embrace when mountain breezes whisper through the pines. While winter adventurers should prepare for true mountain cold and deep snow, summer visitors enjoy moderate temperatures perfect for hiking – though nature occasionally leaves her calling card with fallen trees across trails. For the ultimate experience, visit during late spring when wildflowers burst into bloom, or early autumn when golden aspens paint the mountainsides.
ElevationPerched at 5,100 feet in the majestic Boise Mountain Range, the cabin offers that perfect sweet spot where the air is crisp and clear, yet still comfortable for most visitors. This elevation provides stunning vistas, cooler summer temperatures, and reliable winter snow while remaining accessible to those seeking mountain adventures without extreme altitude challenges.
Natural Features and SceneryImmerse yourself in a living postcard where towering pines create nature's cathedral, their branches filtering golden sunlight by day and framing countless stars by night. The melodic babble of Beaver Creek provides a constant soundtrack, its waters attracting the cabin's namesake residents – industrious beavers who've engineered their own architectural marvels nearby. Keep your camera ready for encounters with majestic mule deer grazing in forest clearings, bugling elk during autumn's rut, and if you're fortunate, the occasional glimpse of a black bear foraging among the huckleberries.
Geological RegionThe cabin sits at the heart of the Boise Mountain Range's ecological tapestry, where centuries-old mixed-growth pine forests tell stories of fire, regrowth, and resilience. This diverse ecosystem thrives along the life-giving waters of Beaver Creek and its tributary streams, creating ribbons of riparian habitat that support an abundance of wildlife. The surrounding peaks and valleys showcase the region's volcanic origins, offering endless exploration opportunities for geology enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
