About this campground

Nestled along the eastern shores of the Kinzua Arm, where the Allegheny Reservoir stretches like a mirror reflecting the Pennsylvania sky, Red Bridge Campground welcomes adventurers with 65 thoughtfully designed sites. From cozy cabins tucked beneath towering trees to prime waterfront spots where morning mist dances across the water, this haven offers modern comforts including hot showers, both vault and flush toilets, and convenient dump station facilities—ensuring your wilderness escape doesn't mean leaving all amenities behind.
Red Bridge Campground accommodates a variety of camping styles, including RV, tent, and cabin camping. Primitive sites are not mentioned, but walk-to sites are available. Full hookup options cater to RV campers, while cabins provide a glamping experience.
Historical SignificanceThe landscape here tells a story of transformation—where the mighty Kinzua Dam rose in 1965, forever changing the valley into the stunning Allegheny Reservoir we see today. Threading through this transformed wilderness, the legendary North Country National Scenic Trail carries the footsteps of countless adventurers, connecting Red Bridge to a greater tapestry of American outdoor heritage that stretches from New York to North Dakota.
Weather and SeasonsSummer days bring warm sunshine filtering through the forest canopy, punctuated by refreshing afternoon showers that release the earthy scent of the woodland floor. As autumn approaches, the campground transforms into a painter's palette of crimson, gold, and amber, with crisp mornings perfect for wrapping hands around a steaming cup of coffee while watching the reservoir awaken.
Natural Features and SceneryTowering black cherry trees stand sentinel alongside ancient hemlocks and graceful birches, creating a living cathedral that filters sunlight into dancing patterns on the forest floor. From scenic overlooks, the Allegheny Reservoir unfolds in all its glory—a vast expanse of water that changes personality with each passing hour. The North Country National Scenic Trail beckons hikers to explore deeper into this pristine wilderness, where every turn reveals another postcard-worthy vista.
Geological RegionDeep within the embrace of the Allegheny National Forest, Red Bridge Campground sits at the convergence of water and woodland where the Kinzua Arm carves its path through ancient hills. This is hardwood country at its finest—where majestic maples mingle with prized black cherry trees, creating a diverse ecosystem shaped by both nature and the engineering marvel of the nearby Kinzua Dam. The surrounding forest represents centuries of geological and ecological evolution, offering campers a front-row seat to Pennsylvania's natural grandeur.
